Trans/generations

Our universe experiences constant transformation, evolution, death, and rebirth, and transgender people feel this in our everyday existence. In Trans/generations, a team of trans and genderqueer performing artists (elena rose light with Cristina Leoni-Osion, Alice Nogueira, and Jäckie Rydz) invited audience-participants to join us in a 3-day performative workshop centered around an oracle deck of diverse trans heroes (both human and non-human). Together, we explored transition through movement, meditation, ritual, drawing, and writing.

The Past: How can we connect with the beings who came before us, both those recorded and left out of history? Our opening evening workshop will introduce audience-participants to our oracle deck of trans-cestral practices and their connections to Berlin.

The Present: What do you need to experience embodied joy right here and now? We’ll explore this question through somatic practices and guided movement, then develop our own oracle cards to add to the deck.

The Future: If the only sure thing about the future is the inevitability of death, how can we gather tools to welcome our own disintegration? Through dance and drawing, we’ll take this day as an opportunity to consider what kinds of ancestors we want to become.
